Why to volunteer

“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal” Albert Pike

Why to volunteer:

One of the most important values to which the organization is based and for which it is intended, is to promote volunteerism in society. From the founding of the organization until now, the majority of activities, the youth and organization members have voluntarily implemented.

There are hundreds of good reasons to volunteer. You have the chance to work together with great people, to support great organizations, gain new soft skills and experiences. But overall it’s a kind of lifestyle. You express an image of something you want to be. Even if you give more out of it than you actually get back, it opens your mind to the things that are important which means you are being more open minded. And our youth are one of those things. Working with youth means working with the future of a society. Moreover, it is a lot of fun. Volunteering offers opportunity to work in a lot of different fields without having a lot of previous experience.

Volunteering abroad means a lot, it means getting an understanding of another culture, another society. You get into local structures of organizations, even on a national level. You take part in celebrations and rituals but also in the daily life. You have a lot of interesting discussions about differences but also similarities in the cultures.

You meet a lot of great people with different points of view. But you also have the chance to get another view on the culture/ the society you live in. You can learn a lot from how things are dealt in another country, when you get over your prejudices. There is more than one way to see and manage the things, but you can only see this, when you take in another perspective.
