Summer Camp “Rebels for Peace” in Trogen, Switzerland 2024
Since 2010, the “Rebels for Peace” summer camp has been a highlight for young people from around the world. This year, from July 7 to July 20, twenty young people from North Macedonia participated in the 2024 edition of this international summer camp held in the Pestalozzi Children’s Village in Trogen, Switzerland.
During their stay, participants were accommodated in specialized homes where they took responsibility for maintaining order and cleanliness. The exchange program included informal classes where students learned about the intercultural rights of children, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures.
In addition to the North Macedonian group, the camp hosted children from Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, Moldova, Poland, and Ukraine. These young participants engaged in various workshops aimed at encouraging critical reflection on their values and behavior patterns, ultimately strengthening their personal identities.
Throughout the two weeks, the children had the opportunity to showcase their traditional foods and dances during community nights, host a radio show, visit some of Switzerland’s most attractive sites, and develop action plans to be implemented upon their return home.
One participant, Era Suleimani, shared her experience: “From this beautiful experience, I learned how capable I am of achieving my goals. My impressions are very positive because I made a new friend with whom I spent wonderful moments.”
The goal of this exchange is to empower children and young people to critically reflect on their values and behavior, reinforcing their personal identities. CED is committed to continuing to organize similar exchanges in the future, addressing the challenges faced by young people and striving to create a better world for children.
